Meet Ms. Dusa
I grew up in a small town about 15 minutes from Bedford called Petersburg and graduated with 93 classmates from Summerfield High School. I did some traveling for a few years, living in Texas and Germany. I finally settled in and received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Toledo majoring in Elementary Education with a Math concentration. I have my Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University specializing in Guidance and Counseling. Continuing my education, I have 36 credit hours beyond my Master's in a variety of subject areas (technology, differentiated learning, etc).
My first 10 years of teaching were with 6th graders at the Junior High School. My second 10 years were with 6th graders at Smith Road Elementary. I returned to the Junior High when the 6th grade came over in 2011. This will be my second year with 5th graders. Mr. Eaton and I have been teaching partners since our first year at SRE.
I've had the opportunity to be Math Chairperson for 15 years as well as School Improvement Chairperson, Student Council Adviser, and Girls' Track Coach.
Blissfield has been my home for the past 25 years and absolutely love living there! I'm involved with the DDA/Main Street Program and am a member of the Promotions Committee. We focus on many community events, such as Cruise-Ins, Blissfield Rail Road Days, Blissfield Bluegrass on the River, Blissfield Yuletide Cheer, and Parade of Lights.
This summer I had the opportunity to take a hot air balloon ride over Nape Valley in California! It was an awesome experience! Some of my other traveling adventures have included Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C., Nashville, Gatlinburg, The Bahamas, the Florida Keys, Lake Tahoe, Cozumel, Hawaii, Mackinac Island and New York City. I also do a lot of day trips to small towns in both Michigan and Ohio.
My significant other, Cole, and I have a yellow Labrador Retriever named Mazey. She is almost 10 years old and is absolutely psycho for a tennis ball! She and I walk 2 miles almost every day . . . good for her and me :-) I love spending time with friends and family.
