Meet Mr. Eaton
I grew up in Bedford township and am a 1992 Bedford High School graduate! Next, I attended Michigan State University, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1996. I lived in Scottsdale, Arizona for a year and returned to Michigan. As I began working for Bedford Public Schools I attended the University of Toledo where I earned my Master's degree in Elementary Education along with my teacher certification. I also, attended Eastern Michigan University where I acquired a second Master's degree, this time in Educational Media and Technology in 2007. I completed an Administrative program from Eastern, earning my Michigan k-12 Administrative licensure in 2013.
My first two years of teaching were at Bedford Junior High School. My next ten years were at Smith Road Elementary teaching 6th graders and I returned to the Junior High School for the past three years. I am very excited about being a member of Jackman Road Staff and teaching 5th Grade for the second year. I've had the opportunity to be a Social Studies Chairperson for four years at Smith Road and then transition to Technology Chairperson. I was also in that position for Bedford Junior High for three years as well. In addition, I have coached baseball at Bedford for a number of years. From 1997 to now, I have coached in ten different season and currently am an assistant coach with the Varsity. Ms. Gwen Dusa and I have been teaching partners for over 14 years . She is an incredible teacher and great social role model for our students.
My family and I currently live in Bedford for the last four years, after living up in Milan, Michigan for the previous seven. We love to travel throughout the United States. This past summer I visited Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, San Francisco, Oakland, Las Vegas, Miami, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Cleveland and Chicago!
I love baseball and have attended Major League Baseball games in twenty-eight of the thirty major league stadiums. I still need to visit Denver and Seattle.
My wife Julie is currently the Reading Specialist at Jackman Road Elementary, where my daughters Kate (4th Grade) and McKenna (2nd Grade) attend.
